Mommy Test/155/Bathroom Fun

Mommy Test...

So the start of this past week I tested Kayla's mommy skills. I decided to see how she would react if I got sick. So, I contracted both, a viral AND a bacterial infection. Kayla's response? "Go to the doctor and don't get me sick." Perfect. So I took Monday and Tuesday off of work to stay home and have a "Heroes" marathon. I got season 2 for Christmas. I started watching from the start of season 1, and made it about halfway through the season. As luck would have it... and with the help of the meds from the doctor, I survived my sickness without sharing with Kayla. By Wednesday, I was back at work. Kayla decided to take a couple of days off of work on Thursday and Friday. Actually, someone else decided that for her. Her school district decided to cancel school due to the cold weather. "Don't they have heat?" Some days. It just doesn't work so well with power outages. Kayla and I lost our power at the house at 9:15pm Wednesday night. It came back on at 2:30am, then off again at 5am, and back on again at around 9am. When I woke up at 7 to go to work, it was a warm 60 degrees inside the house. Kayla got up too to head over to her sister's house where they didn't lose power.

155...

Friday, Kayla and I headed over to see her doctor for our second prenatal appointment. No pictures this time, but we did get to hear the heartbeat for the first time. It was beating at 155 beats per minute. We pushed our third appointment back a week so we could schedule our next ultrasound. This one (on Feb 16th) should let us know if it is a boy or a girl. Yes, we are finding out, yes we will tell you... but still no guarantees that we will divulge whatever name we come up with before the baby arrives. We might keep that as a secret.

Bathroom Fun...

This weekend, we painted the guest bathroom and tiled the floor in there. We had gone to Bed Bath and Beyond and found a shower curtain we liked. We wanted something that would make it a kid's bathroom, but nothing too extreme. So we found this.

Some of the other bathroom items incorporated the see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil. The Kleenex box cover having four sides had to add the smell no evil.
We like it though. Anyway, with this design, we needed to pick out a paint color. We decided on "Dancing Green" from Sherwin Williams. So we painted. Here's the outcome of it.
These pictures also show the floor tile we installed this weekend. This tile took us about 3 hours on Saturday to install, and another hour on Sunday to grout. Not bad for a couple of professionals... just not professional tile layers. Next house project... new toilet, baseboards, and eventually countertop and sink in this bathroom. Then we just have the master bath, wood flooring in the entry and hallway, and carpet in a few rooms. In July... we should have enough help to start some landscaping. I wonder who I can get to help us...

  1. Hmmm...not sure if we can come or not...I just remembered that we'll be busy in July...

About the Kleenex box...guess you can't use that bathroom, Will. Smell no evil??? Wouldn't want to put the monkey through that!!
